With no empirical evidence to back up my theory, I’d say that fall is the most beloved of all seasons. It’s magical briskness has a way of charming even the most prudent cold weather hater – it’s certainly the most romantic of the seasons.

I think that when a lot of people think of lamb, they think of celebrations, the holidays, etc. It is my opinion that lamb shouldn’t be something reserved for a special occasion. It is a marvelous meat with a grassy flavor.

A Cake for All Occasions of Indulgence

Dessert is an exceptionally important part of life. It gives you a way to indulge once in a while and this cake really does the trick. It’s a mix of two of my favorite desserts, tarte tatin and sour cream cake. Where a more traditional tarte tatin would have you caramelize your fruit and cover it with a layer of puff pastry, I’ve found that covering the fruit in this sour cream cake produces a great lemony tang to balance the ubiquitous sweetness of the fruit.

Shakshuka is one of those meals that is so easy you can’t believe how delicious it is. It’s a perfectly simple meal for a weeknight dinner or a quick way into a warm weekend lunch. It’s filling, comforting, sweet and spicy.

If there’s one thing that's for  certain – it’s that summer is time for burgers. On the grill or in cast iron. On a picnic table or for a living room picnic. There’s really no wrong way to eat a burger in the summer. And it seems like they are everywhere. So sometimes it’s nice to take a break from beef or turkey or even veggie and try something a little different.

There’s something about summer that makes me crave Clam Chowder. It feels completely counter-intuitive – a hot, creamy soup on a hot day? But you know what?  It works. It smells like ocean, and tastes like the sea breeze. It allows you to be on a wharf even when you might be stuck inside an office all day or unable to make it to a body of water on a sweltering day. Bodellicious Bites: Crab Risotto

As a chef and a fisherman, there are few times of the year that get me as excited as Dungeness crab season. Crab is one of my favorite sea creatures to fish for and to eat. As a fisherman, there is nothing quite like the anticipation of pulling up a crab trap from the ocean bottom, calculating how heavy it feels as you retrieve the line, and swinging the trap over the gunwale of your boat to finally come face to face with your catch.
