Manager, Regional Off Premise Chains (Midwest)

Job Summary:

Responsible for off-premise business development and Distributor Chain Management in the Midwest Regions, with particular focus on the following segments:  Midwest Regional Chains & National Accounts.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

 Sales Execution: (75%)

  • Manages the strategy, development, programming, and maintenance of the Off-premise Chain segment, including Meijer, Giant Eagle, Schnuck’s, Hy-Vee, Kroger banners, Walmart/Sam’s, Target, Military, Aldi, Alberston’s/Safeway banners, CVS, Walgreens.
  • Will lead Midwest strategy in regional “cross-over” chains such as Binny’s, Trader Joe’s, Woodman’s, Festival, Busch’s, Spartan/Nash and Total Wine.
  • Work in tandem with The Family Coppola National (TFC) Account team to develop, plan and execute National strategy through Regional Chains
  • Lead, communicate, consult, and guide key distributor personnel in the everyday execution of the company’s sales initiatives.
  • Monitor and enforce distributor adherence to pricing and retail price position strategies.
  • Accompanies distributor chain account managers, distributor management, and sales representatives on visits to customers to evaluate work performance, ascertain strategic problems, and detect market trends.
  • Responsible for managing the distributor on compliance and maximization of mandatory chain programming.
  • Responsible for educating the distributor on our brand standards, new product introductions, key selling points and monthly objectives. The person will also be instrumental in the development of said standards, introductions, and monthly objectives. 
  • Listens to distributor and customer concerns/needs in order to take swift corrective action.
  • Confers with management and sales personnel, both internally and with the distributor, to formulate plans for meeting competition and improving sales.

 

 Reporting/Regulatory: (25%)

 

  • Clearly and frequently communicate sales initiative progress (or lack thereof) to the RSM’s.
  • Clearly and frequently communicate ideas, trends, issues, and needs to the RSM’s.
  • Effectively participate in market surveys, recap results, and assist in developing action plans for the assigned market.
  • Work in tandem with TCF RSM’s with tracking, updating, and assisting in development of wholesaler incentive programs.
  • Responsible for keeping up-to-date with ABC regulations and adhering to established policies and procedures regarding the handling and service of alcoholic beverages

Job Requirements

 

Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree (B. A.) or equivalent from four-year College or technical school; or two to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Category management experience required.

 

Skills: Strong computer skills; type with speed and accuracy; strong written and verbal communication skills, ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment, strong organizational and analytical skills and excellent negotiation and mediation skills.

 

Knowledge: Proficient with Nielsen / IRI Data, Wine knowledge; formal training/certification preferred.

This position requires face to face interaction with the targeted accounts.

 

Physical: The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

 

Other: Ability to travel frequently and must have a valid driver’s license and a driving record acceptable to the company’s insurance carrier.

The role will have to travel up to 50% of the time.  Up to 50% of the required travel time will be Air Travel.
