Harvest, Assistant Winemaker

Location: Geyserville, California

Job Summary: Works closely with the Winemaking Team during harvest on all aspects of the winemaking process, and assists in creation of work orders for: incoming processing of grapes, cap management, fermentation additions, pressing decisions, post fermentation clarification and wine movements.  Works as a liaison between winemaking and cellar and lab and helps to organize, prioritize and communicate work instructions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:  

  • Works with Winemaking and Cellar management and assists with creation of cellar work instructions, orders and work logs as directed.
  • Ensures Cellar work instructions are adequately communicated to Cellar leadership
  • Assist with management of wine quality control in the cellar by monitoring wine in ferment and storage and provide feedback when any defect or anomaly is identified.
  • Ensures work is completed in a safe manner, maximizing quality of wines produced and is completed in an efficient manner.

Job Requirements: 

Education/Experience: Minimum experience working 2 harvest seasons, red fermentation management and in the process of/or completed an Enology and/or Viticulture degree.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:  Excellent organizational and communication skills. Computer skills required with solid MS Word and Excel skills Able to work independently or in a team environment.
