Systems Administrator

Location: Geyserville, California

Job Summary:  This position reports to the IT Systems Manager and is responsible for designing, deploying and managing business, infrastructure, and disaster recovery systems to support business critical applications and processes for the Francis Ford Coppola Presents enterprise and related organizations. The System Administrator will also apply systems analysis techniques and procedures, including consulting with users as well as management, to determine hardware, software or system functional specifications. The Systems Administrator will also act as an escalation point for the Help Desk as time allows and priorities dictate. Additionally, this position may also require time sensitive or critical decisions to be made in the absence of direct management input or guidance; it is expected that the System Administrator will consider all possible implications from business, security and professional perspectives when doing so, and maintain the company’s best interests during these times.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

50% Projects:

  • IT driven projects will be geared towards assessing, monitoring, documenting, and making recommendations towards improving the network and server systems of FFCP under the guidance and supervision of the IT Systems and Services Manager.
  • Business driven projects will require collaboration with business owners/users to provide feedback on hardware and software needs, network impact, etc.

40% Routine/Daily:

  • The day-to-day tasks will vary based on the current business needs, but some specifics are:
    • Monitor network and server availability, performance, and capacity.
    • Monitor backup jobs; rotate tapes as needed; restore data as needed
    • Maintain critical end-point management/protection platforms (Trend, Crashplan, Malwarebytes, Desktop Central) and report on overall enterprise compliance and risk in these areas.
    • Maintain server systems (replace failed components, OS updates, system upgrades,
    • ).
  • Other tasks as assigned.

10% Developmental:

  • To further expand your knowledge and experience, annual goals will be set that may include training, conferences, project involvement, or obtaining certification on a particular topic. These goals will be clearly defined in the annual review process.

Supervisory Responsibilities:  While this position does not have any direct reports, the Systems Administrator will be required to manage contractors and vendors to ensure that the proper and appropriate work is done and that FFCP standards and practices are followed.  The Systems Administrator should consistently demonstrate outstanding customer service and dedication to getting the job done, help other IT staff work through issues and be a leader for your peers.

Job Requirements


  • Minimum 5 years’ experience deploying and administering network devices (wireless access points, routers, firewalls, switches) and Windows servers in a networked business environment.
  • 1-year project management and leadership experience.

  • Solid working knowledge of network protocols, networking hardware/software, server hardware, virtualization platforms, storage systems and the Windows operating systems in a networked environment.
  • Technical expertise in data communications, network operations, hardware and software supporting corporate networks and servers.
  • Broad technical capabilities to distinguish between hardware/software-related problems.


  • Ability to travel frequently and must have a valid driver’s license and a driving record acceptable to the company’s insurance carrier.
