Manager, Facilities

Location: Geyserville, California

Job Summary: 

Responsible for managing maintenance service and repairs in the areas of plumbing, carpentry, welding, painting, plastering, and machine and electrical servicing for the organization's facilities. Provide costing/ budgeting/capital expense for facility.  Familiar with a variety of the facilities concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of complex tasks. Leads and directs the work of others. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is required. Directs and coordinates activities of workers and contractors engaged in setting up, installing, repairing, and maintaining machinery, equipment, buildings and grounds throughout the facilities by performing the following duties.

Supervisors and Leads are fundamentally responsible for ensuring safety in their own departments and to uphold the following safety standards:

 

  • Demonstrate a positive attitude toward safety
  • Ensure work is performed in a safe manner and all safety rules, regulations and instructions are in compliance
  • Report and investigate workplace injuries in a timely manner; identifies ways to eliminate risk of reoccurrence; complete audits; conduct monthly safety meetings and trainings; maintain compliance with hazardous materials program; inform/train new employees on specific safety aspects and procedures with the department and location; participate in monthly management safety meetings

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

Operations: (70%)

  • Directs workers in carpentry rough/finish, electrical high/low, electronic, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic maintenance and repair of machinery and equipment.
  • Assists workers in diagnosing malfunctions in machinery and equipment.
  • Control and operations of water systems- fresh water/ waste water/ sanitary waste
  • Directs workers engaged in dismantling, assembling, and installing industrial machinery.
  • Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules.
  • Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists workers in solving work problems.
  • Performs other related tasks and duties as assigned by Director of Engineering.
  • Manages maintenance budget including monitoring inventory and expenses
  • Determines need for outside contractors to be involved in construction projects
  • Develops specifications and makes recommendations on capital equipment purchases
  • Responds professionally to requests for information from the public regarding the structure and maintenance of the Facilities, including questions, concerns, and complaints from the general public and department leads.
  • Monitors completion of job assignments through frequent field observation and inspections to ensure compliance with standards and instruction and revises instructions and time frames as necessary.
  • Coordinates, assigns, directs, daily, weekly, monthly, yearly schedules
  • Establishes job priorities and time frames for Maintenance Staff

Leadership: (30%)

  • Staff timekeeping responsibilities.
  • Document employee issues and performance.
  • Initiates or suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals.
  • Works at setting goals for staff and department
  • Communicate effectively with other plant personnel and convey needed information to the Director of Engineering such as the status of plant equipment and performance
  • Confers with other supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments.
  • Coordinates, assigns, directs, daily, weekly, monthly, yearly schedules
  • Responsible for all department invoices and submitting to accounting for payment.
  • Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
  • Studies production schedules and estimates worker hour requirements for completion of job assignments.
  • Interprets company policies to workers and enforces safety regulations.
  • Interprets specifications and job orders to workers, and assigns duties.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Provide leadership and support to work team; coach, guide, nurture and develop the right people; “walk the talk”. Drive company focus, manage culture, encourage a strong work ethic and foster an environment of trust and respect. Communicate and support company policies and decisions in a positive manner. Train employees to do their job and set standards for work performance. Recognize and address performance strengths and challenges of staff. Handle employee issues, concerns, and complaints in an objective and confidential manner.

Job Requirements:

Education/Experience:

Requires a bachelor's degree and/or 7-10 years of experience and/or training in the field or in a related area or technical school; equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Good knowledge of safety regulations, practices and procedures applicable to FCC standards
  • Knowledge of maintenance of automotive vehicles
  • Ability to prepare accurate and reliable reports containing findings, observations and conclusions on facilities maintenance activities
  • Ability to work cooperatively, communicate effectively, and to maintain effective internal and external customer relations to accomplish job responsibilities
  • Ability to quickly learn and put to use new skills and knowledge brought about by rapidly changing information and or technology
  • Ingenuity and inventiveness in the performance of assigned tasks and responsibilities.

Other Preferred Job Qualifications:

  • Must have a valid driver’s license and a driving record acceptable to the company’s insurance carrier.
