Bartender - Café Zoetrope

Location: San Francisco, California

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  1. Beverage Service Service: (60%)
  • Greet all guests and enter their orders into Diner-ware accurately
  • Be knowledgeable of the menu
  • Maintain complete knowledge of all wines by the glass and the wine lists
  • Maintain complete knowledge of all designated glassware and garnishes for each drink
  • Know all liquor brands, beers and non-alcoholic beverage selections
  • Abide by state liquor service standards, particularly those prohibiting service to minors and intoxicated persons
  • Adhere to all Health and Safety code standards
  • Promote the FC Winery and up sell Coppola wines and products
  • Strive for 100% satisfaction for all guest experiences
  • Communicate with Manager when guest issues arise
  • Dress appropriately in uniform for shifts
  1. Preparation: (20%)
  • Stock all barware and garnishes appropriate for business levels
  • Reset bar after each guest completes their meal
  • Assist in taking inventories of silverware and glassware
  • Stock ice bar
  • Inspect cleanliness and condition of bar and service areas, report issues
  • Report stock inventory shortages to supervisor
  • Make recommendations regarding replacement of equipment
  1. Closing: (20%)
  • Close out all the tables on the Dinerware system
  • Print the cash-out report
  • Place credit card and cash from customers in the cash-out envelope and ensure these items total and balance accurately to the cash-out report
  • Declare tips accurately
  • Take dirty linen downstairs
  • Date all open bottles
  • Stock wine and beer for next day opening
  • Leave all glassware clean and polished for next day opening
  • Leave espresso machine and dishwasher clean for next day opening
  • Check in with Manager at the end of each shift


  • High school diploma or general education degree
  • Six months of prior bartender experience and/or training

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:  

  • Ability to read and clearly communicate in English
  • Knowledge of food and wine helpful
  • Knowledgeable of safe food handling and preparation procedures
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations
  • Adaptability - Ability to adapt to change in the workplace
  • Autonomy - Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Work Environment: Restaurant:

  • Handling glass, exposed to hot water or liquids, steam, compressed gas cylinders, stairs


  • Requires CA Food Handler Card or ServSafe Certified; TIPS Certification
  • POS system knowledge
  • Ability to work weekends, weeknights and some holidays as required
