FRANCIS COPPOLA RESERVE

The connection between a vine and the soil creates the essence of a wine. Francis Coppola Reserve wines are vineyard-specific creations produced in limited quantities from distinctive sites in Sonoma County. Corey Beck hand-selects the best lots of fruit from each vintage that capture the unique qualities of these prestigious vineyards. From these selections we craft small-batch wines which are reserved exclusively for winery guests, wine club members, and those who shop with us online.

THE LABEL

The artwork of film production designer Dean Tavoularis graces the labels of our FC Reserve wines. Tavoularis met Francis Coppola during the making of The Godfather and the two artists have continued to collaborate over the years on a variety of creative projects, including more than a dozen films and the design of the Francis Ford Coppola Winery in Sonoma County.

BEVILL-WOLCOTT VINEYARD

Petite Sirah is a powerhouse red grape that makes dark, inky wines with ample tannin, dark rich fruit flavors, and bold expressions of spice, pepper, and chocolate. Our 2014 Reserve Petite Sirah hails from the Bevill-Wolcott Vineyard in Dry Creek Valley. Located on the bench of the appellation’s foothills, this vineyard experiences excellent sun exposure, and is comprised of well-drained gravelly-loam soils that produce good fruit concentration. The owners have a long history with this vineyard, know all of its intricacies, and consistently manage to coax intensely expressive, high quality fruit from these well-pampered vines.

THE WINE

Our 2014 Reserve Petite Sirah is a big, plush wine with velvety texture, good tannin structure, and a lot of concentration. Briary berries, baking spices, and seasoned wood dominate the nose while rich, mouth filling impressions of black cherries, cassis, and cloves create decadent layers of flavor that extend on the finish with subtle notes of flowers and tobacco.
