2017
A beautiful wine inspired by a wonderfully romantic play.
“I always loved the play Cyrano de Bergerac. I even developed a crush on Roxane, which is why I jumped at the chance to play the role of Cyrano in my high school play.

Wine Notes
We use very little new oak with this wine so as not to overpower the aromas and flavors with too much wood. The fruit is picked in the early morning, cold soaked, and fermented cool to retain the varietal’s natural acidity. It’s then placed into 2-year-old barrels for a few months of maturation. The 2017 growing season began with a good deal of precipitation, but after a mild spring, temperatures heated up
and remained quite warm throughout summer and fall. In the end, the vintage delivered smaller than average clusters, which led to excellent concentration and high-quality fruit overall.
Cyrano’s French background inspired our use of Grenache, a French varietal. Over the years, we’ve used Grenache in a number of our red blends, all while contemplating a way to get our hands on enough to create a single-varietal expression of a dramatic red grape that enchants us with its unique combination of red fruits, peppery spice character, and herbal “garrigue” notes. Eventually, we found a vineyard that produces exquisite Grenache, inspiring the creation of this poetic wine.

A silky mouthfeel and seamless integration of fruit gives our 2017 Cyrano an elegant palate. Bright, vibrant aromas of red currant, pomegranate, and boysenberry are made even more intriguing by earthy notes of coriander, juniper, and potpourri. Supple flavors of plum and cherries emerge along with a hint of orange peel and minerals. Long on the finish and very well balanced, this is a romantic wine befitting of its name.
